Piney Hills Harmony to salute veterans Sunday, Nov. 6

Piney Hills Harmony Chorus will help commemorate Veterans' Day at White's Ferry Road Church of Christ in West Monroe in a program that features two local barbershop harmony groups, the Duck Commander and more.

Both patriotic and gospel music will be performed by Piney Hills Harmony and the Greater Monroe Men's Barbershop Chorus beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6. The church meets at 3201 N. 7th St. in West Monroe.

"Please join us in honoring the men and women who sacrificed so much to keep America free," said Carol Ogle, president of Piney Hills Harmony, a Ruston-based chorus that includes members from across North Louisiana. "All veterans, their families and friends are welcome, and a special gift will be made to all veterans who attend."

Other highlights will be when Phil Robertson, also known as the Duck Commander, presents "A Tribute to Veterans," and state Rep. Frank Hoffman speaks about "Blessings Veterans Provide."

Robertson, known for his popular line of duck calls and a show on the Outdoor Channel, said, "From the time our founding fathers envisioned liberty some 240 years ago until this very day, the spirit and resolve of the United States Armed Forces has been the teeth of that liberty. Many enemies have arisen – and will continue to arise – to take away freedom, but there must always be a force ready to defend our way of life.

"The White's Ferry Road Church will honor this current era of freedom fighters, but they are just the latest in a long line of liberty's servants. Since they won't be the last, we should never grow weary of giving honor where honor is due. God bless the veterans of the U.S. military."

A reception will follow the program. For more information call the church office at (318) 396-6000.

Circle - and save - the date on your calendars for the 'really big shew' - featuring Piney Hills Harmony AND Elvis!

We're busy, busy, busy making plans for our annual show, set for Jan. 21 in the Dixie Center for the Performing Arts. It's called "Rock Around the Clock," and we're not kidding. You'll be rockin' 'n' rollin' not only with US, but with ELVIS!

Yes, Elvis impersonator Todd C. Martin from Monroe will sing sets from the '50s, '60s and '70s between our sets of songs from the same decades. How cool is that? Check him out by click here and here.

Stay tuned for more details. And don't touch that dial! If you do, you'll miss scenes from "I Love Lucy," "Laugh In" and lots, lots more! Be there or be square. It's hip. It's cool. It's grooooooovy, man!

Meanwhile, we have two performances in November.

Salute to Veterans' performance
Please join us at 5 p.m. Nov. 6 at the White's Ferry Road Church of Christ in West Monroe for this special night and invite any veterans you may know! Several area churches, plus local and state officials will be invited to attend. During the performance, the Monroe men's "Cotton Country Chorus" will share the stage with us for a song.

Veterans' Day at the Dixie
We will also be part of the Veterans' Day program at the Dixie Center for the Arts in downtown Ruston on Nov. 10. Details to follow.
