Here's a news release that will soon be (for lack of a better word) released

Piney Hills Harmony Chorus of Sweet Adelines has won third place regionally for membership growth, an award presented during a five-state competition and convention.

The award was announced during the group's annual Region 25 gathering held April 25-26 in Dallas.

The Ruston-based chorus won third based on its 17 percent membership growth from April 2006-2007. Since then, the chorus has grown even more, moving from small to mid-size chorus. It now boasts 36 members from eight parishes.

The region contains 25 choruses from north Louisiana, north Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and southwest Missouri.

In other news, while in Dallas, Piney Hills Harmony member Lisa Holmes, of Minden, was named PHH Sweet Adeline of the Year. The award is based on service to the local chapter and the embodiment of what a Sweet Adeline should be. Holmes recently was elected to the chorus's board of directors, served as local leadership coordinator before the '08 competition and was named the latest PHH Woman of Worth.

A quartet within Piney Hills Harmony, Masquerade, placed seventh at the competition. Its members are Mary Jo Brister, Quitman; Wanda McKaskle, Bernice; and Jennifer Patterson and Sheila Stepp, Ruston.

And, here's our formal photo from this spring's regional competition.
