And the final three contestants who are vying to be the top Rising Star of 2006 in Piney Hills Harmony's "Star Struck" show: Shannon McCole, Chandler Nelson and Shannon Stahl.
Best of luck to all nine! Or should we say, "Break a leg"? Or, as we say in the Sweet Adelines, "Break a lip!"

PHH sings in 3 new members; Oct. 12 rehearsal canceled; chorus show scheduled

Piney Hills Harmony is thrilled to have "sung in" three new members! During the Oct. 5 rehearsal, tenor Ashley Laine Gleisner and baritone Lisa Holmes were warmly welcomed into the chorus. Frances Grafton, a lead, was sung in during the previous rehearsal.

In the top photo in this post, President Judy Sisson presents Ashley and Lisa with the traditional "rookie packet" bestowed by PHH.

In the pic immediately below that, Lisa receives a PHH hug from Nadine Havard while other chorus members celebrate nearby.

In the shot to the right of that, Ashley poses with her brand new "Girlfriends in Harmony" T-shirt, and Lisa can be seen with hers as well (bottom photo). In the photo below Ashley, we captured Frances singing during the recent "Ready, Set, Grow" vocal lessons.

A big thanks to our camera-wielding Teresa for these pix.

We have even more newbies who will be joining our ranks soon, so stay tuned!

Please be aware that because almost half of our chorus will attend the upcoming Sweet Adelines International competition in Las Vegas, rehearsal for Oct. 12 is canceled. PHH members will be there to cheer on two choruses and four quartets from our region. Yea! Is Region 25 great or what?!?

Another announcement: Finalists are being chosen for our upcoming Rising Star Contest and "Star Struck" show, scheduled for Nov. 11 in the Dixie Center for the Arts. When the final list of contestants is completed, we'll post it here and elsewhere, along with more details about how to attend, where to get tickets, etc. The young talent displayed there -- as well as our own chorus and quartets -- promises to be great! :-D

More photos of PHH coaching with Gwen Smith

This is a follow-up post to the one below, focusing on a recent vocal coaching date with Gwen Smith, of Rich-Tone and Kismet fame (see below).

The first shot shows Gwen and our director, Wanda, working in front of the chorus. The second shot shows a lighthearted moment after lunch with Wanda and her mom, Janet, dancing. In the background, Hong and Jerri are also cutting the rug; Sharon is looking on.

More pix of a grand coaching day for Piney Hills Harmony

Hi, gang!

President Judy just sent the PHH Blogger more pix of Gwen Smith's recent coaching day. I will post them in this message and then add another one in a few minutes.

Thanks, Judy! It's nice to have something to remember these great days with.

In case you're reading this blog for the first time, Gwen is a member and assistant director of the international champion Rich-Tones chorus from the Dallas area, and her quartet (Kismet) has won regional competition multiple times. Both chorus and quartet are competing in Las Vegas in this year's international competition this coming week. Go, Gwen! Go, Rich-Tones! Go, all our representatives from Region 25!

P.S. You will note that we weren't quite off the paper for that session yet, but it still went fabulously.
